Sometimes I just really really hate school. Half the time teachers and their "system" are bullshit. Ugh. [heyitsRachel]

Australia Day #12
Posted in Australia, Australia 2009 on August 21, 2009Sunday (the 26th) morning, Derek had to drive with his dad over to change his mom’s flat tire about 20 minutes away from home. He left fairly early though (I was still asleep) so when he came back, he had to tell me to get my butt out of bed! For once we were both up before 10 am, lol! In the evening, his mom took us to the Palace Cinema in Paddington to see the public premiere of a new Australian movie, Beautiful Kate.
What was special about this premiere though was that afterwards, the director (Rachel Ward), producer (Leah Churchill-Brown), and one of the stars (Bryan Brown) all had an open Q&A session with the audience. The movie was pretty amazing, though I wouldn’t recommend it for the “under 16″ crowd… it had a bit of nudity and a smidgen of an incestuous theme. If you’d like to watch the Q&A in it’s entirety, you can watch that here on Derek’s Viddler account.
After the movie, we all headed over to Jacksons on George for dinner. Suzie and I had super delicious bowls of tomato basil soup, and we all shared a serving of traditional Australian “damper bread“.
Australia Day #10 & 11
Posted in Australia, Australia 2009 on August 18, 2009On day 10 of my trip I didn’t do anything consequential. At night though, Derek and I stargazed on his driveway for a couple hours. That was nice

——-
On Saturday the 25th, I made some super scrumptious cinnamon crumble muffins. Like seriously, if I had cream cheese with those, there’s a possibility I would’ve piddled a little because they were so good.
Later in the evening we made pizza from scratch! Derek even hand-made the dough to make the crust! My side had bacon, chicken, and bbq sauce. His half included capsicum, mushroom, and shallots. The bottom ended up burning a little, but we quickly go over it
Nom nom nom…
Australia Day #9
Posted in Australia, Australia 2009, Videos on August 16, 2009Thursday (the 23rd) early-afternoon, Derek and I decided to take his mom’s convertible to drive out to Newport to pick up my newly fixed laptop. We drove the scenic route, and stopped halfway at West Head Lookout. At night we went to acting class at the Actors Creative Studio (which you can see my tour of here: http://bit.ly/3TgZUL) to perform a little Christmas skit.
Music:
I’m Like a Bird by Nelly Furtado
Wizards in Winter by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra
Derek and I finally made it to the Mac & Me store, picked up my macbook pro, then started driving back home. We discussed what I was gonna do for work once I got back to Huntsville (since I was going to need a bit more income than I’ve been receiving lately) and decided that I would start up Apple tutorial classes on campus. The closest Apple store is about a 45 minute drive from SHSU, and I know a lot of students who could benefit from learning outside of basic design classes. I’ll write another post about this if it ends up working out
