Also, here’s a list of some of the events we’re going to try to go to (click to enlarge):

Huntsville Snow!

Posted in Videos on February 24, 2010

My first time (that I can recall) seeing snow in Huntsville! It’s like seeing kids in a toy store when it snows in Texas…

And then Derek and I frolicking in the snow before it got too dark…

Picking Up Derek Surprise!

Posted in Uncategorized, Videos on February 14, 2010

While trying to clean up my apartment before leaving to pick up Derek from the airport, I got a knock at my door. I was told this would be someone delivering cookies, but it was actually something much better! Yay for surprises!

The Arbors- How They Fail 85% of the Time

Posted in Uncategorized on October 3, 2009

Don’t get me wrong, The Arbors is a beautiful apartment complex and has quite a few nice amenities. But if something goes wrong during your stay there… good luck getting that taken care of in a smart, productive way and/or in a timely manner.

I lived here last year with a couple of friends, but by the beginning of the Spring ‘09 semester, all hell had broken loose. Long story short- roommate #1 had her boyfriend living in the apartment, while roommate #2 and I were gone for Christmas break. The boyfriend and his friends completely trashed the apartment, putting holes in the walls and doors, massive stains on the carpet, broken mirrors in the bathroom, and so much more. And so, roommate #1 was kicked out, roommate #2 moved out (after being physically threatened by rm #1) and I was stuck wondering what the hell I was supposed to do.

I chose to stay at the apartment for the next 6 months by myself, and in return asked that the largest bedroom (originally belonging to rm #1) be given to me once it was cleaned up and available for rent. This is where the problems started. When I came back from Summer break, not only was I not given the room I was promised by the management, but I was also given two new roommates who’s compatibility forms were in no way matched with mine. Also, the carpets weren’t replaced (just vacuumed and spot-treated) and the doors weren’t replaced (just patched up and painted). The people who were here working on these things not only left my lights on while I was gone but also the air conditioning. They left to-go boxes of old food in my refrigerator, they ate my ice cream, and drank my wine. I reported this to the office, and told them I’d received an electricity bill for $60 for the 3 weeks I was never home, and what did they give me? $20 take it or leave it.

The things I’ve mentioned here are only 1/2 the problems I’ve had with The Arbors. You can see Derek’s opinion on the matter here: http://djsteen.com/wp/p/394
