Derek and I walked around Darling Harbour after we visited the Sydney Wildlife World and Lindt Cafe.

The Actors Creative Website

Posted in Australia, Australia 2009, Uncategorized on September 29, 2009

While in Australia I had the chance to go to a few of the acting classes that Derek’s mom taught at the Actors Creative Studio. You can see the mini-tour video I made here: http://bit.ly/3TgZUL

Suzie (his mom) told me she wanted a new design for the A.C. website, and considering she was kind enough to let me stay in her home throughout my trip to Australia, I offered my services :)

We went through a few bumps in the road, with not being able to decide if we wanted a splash page, then switching through 3 different font & color schemes, then how each page would be similar to the old site and which ones would be completely different. In the end we came up with what is now the current site:

Catching Up

Posted in Lists, Uncategorized on September 27, 2009

With school starting back up a couple weeks ago, trying to get situated with new roommates, and looking to find a job/more freelance work, life has been a little hectic. I’ve had a few other personal issues going on as well but let’s not get into that just yet ;) I still have some videos to edit and pictures to upload from Australia, as well as a couple videos I’ve made since I’ve gotten back to Texas. Other than Twitter, I’ve been pretty fail on the social front! And as some of you know, my memory isn’t the best and so my future posts about Australia won’t likely be as detailed as the ones previous. I’m sorry!!!

Here’s a a list of the things to expect to see blogged in the next week or so:

✛ Information about the new Final Cut Studio (which Derek and I became really pumped about when I was in Sydney)

✛ Details about the website I made for Derek’s mom’s acting studio- http://actorscreative.com

✛ An explanation as to why I’m constantly so angry at The Arbors (my apt. complex)

✛ What are pikelets? And who is Picasso?! (not the artist!)

✛ Video and pictures of all the great animals at the Sydney Wildlife World

✛ What HDR photography is and why I love it :)

✛ Details about the audition Derek and I went to for a kissing scene as well as being extras on the set of Home & Away

✛ Coming back to Texas! :(

And allll kinds of random stuff that’s happened since I got back…

Check back daily to see if I’ve posted anything new, and yell at me on Twitter if you think I’m slacking off! lol

Australia Day #12

Posted in Australia, Australia 2009 on August 21, 2009

Sunday (the 26th) morning, Derek had to drive with his dad over to change his mom’s flat tire about 20 minutes away from home. He left fairly early though (I was still asleep) so when he came back, he had to tell me to get my butt out of bed! For once we were both up before 10 am, lol! In the evening, his mom took us to the Palace Cinema in Paddington to see the public premiere of a new Australian movie, Beautiful Kate.

What was special about this premiere though was that afterwards, the director (Rachel Ward), producer (Leah Churchill-Brown), and one of the stars (Bryan Brown) all had an open Q&A session with the audience. The movie was pretty amazing, though I wouldn’t recommend it for the “under 16″ crowd… it had a bit of nudity and a smidgen of an incestuous theme. If you’d like to watch the Q&A in it’s entirety, you can watch that here on Derek’s Viddler account.

After the movie, we all headed over to Jacksons on George for dinner. Suzie and I had super delicious bowls of tomato basil soup, and we all shared a serving of traditional Australian “damper bread“.

Australia Day #10 & 11

Posted in Australia, Australia 2009 on August 18, 2009

On day 10 of my trip I didn’t do anything consequential. At night though, Derek and I stargazed on his driveway for a couple hours. That was nice :)

——-

On Saturday the 25th, I made some super scrumptious cinnamon crumble muffins. Like seriously, if I had cream cheese with those, there’s a possibility I would’ve piddled a little because they were so good.

Later in the evening we made pizza from scratch! Derek even hand-made the dough to make the crust! My side had bacon, chicken, and bbq sauce. His half included capsicum, mushroom, and shallots. The bottom ended up burning a little, but we quickly go over it ;) Nom nom nom…
