The Actors Creative Website

Posted in Australia, Australia 2009, Uncategorized on September 29, 2009

While in Australia I had the chance to go to a few of the acting classes that Derek’s mom taught at the Actors Creative Studio. You can see the mini-tour video I made here: http://bit.ly/3TgZUL

Suzie (his mom) told me she wanted a new design for the A.C. website, and considering she was kind enough to let me stay in her home throughout my trip to Australia, I offered my services :)

We went through a few bumps in the road, with not being able to decide if we wanted a splash page, then switching through 3 different font & color schemes, then how each page would be similar to the old site and which ones would be completely different. In the end we came up with what is now the current site:

This week we’re supposed to talk about our jobs. Well, I’m a full-time student and a graphic designer, and I do a little work for Viddler on the side. Any questions? ;)

Server Sadness

Posted in Uncategorized on September 16, 2008

This is the story of a girl… who accidentally deleted everything off of her server (for those of you that don’t know what a server is, it’s a place online where you can keep all your files). Yesterday I switched my blog over to a new host (thank god!) and then decided that I wanted to create a new “Live” page for people to go to when I’m streaming. Well once I finished creating it, I opened up Cyberduck to access my server, then saw I already had a folder named “live” (and so decided to delete it). I’m guessing what happened is that I had my root folder selected as well and without knowing it, I deleted all the contents of my server. This included all of my files, folders, images, videos, and most importantly all of my websites that I had created and saved over the past 6 months. This wouldn’t be a big deal if I had everything already backed up on my computer, but I really only have about 1/2 of it on my hard drive. Everything else is gone forever and I will have to recreate it. This my friends, is what we call a complete fuck up. Pardon my french but it’s true.

Morals of the story: 1) Double check before you delete anything from anywhere and 2) Life sucks, then you die.
